Futurecity are delighted to share their appointment where they developed a cultural plan for 1 Golden Lane, the previous headquarters of the Cripplegate Institute, adjacent to the Barbican Centre and the Golden Lane Estate. The site is an existing office building undergoing a major refurbishment led by client Castleforge and architect Hawkins\Brown to adhere to 21st century sustainable regulations and contemporary office needs.
Futurecity’s proposal includes a new Local Community and Cultural Space for the City of London – dedicated to co-design workshops. The Cultural Plan also comprises a public realm where an artist can work with the selected Landscape Architects – Andy Sturgeon Design, to include a decorative artwork for the site. The refurbishment was granted planning permission in January and the cultural plan is currently moving to implementation.
